Texas Licensure enacted in 1991

(Title 113A, Article 6573a, Section 23)

The Texas licensure law, the Real Estate License Act, provides for the examination of home inspectors and established continuing education requirements.
These and other requirements are contained in
The Texas Administrative Code.

The law also requires home inspector applicants to work as apprentice inspectors under the supervision of a professional licensed home inspector. If an applicant is unable to obtain an apprenticeship, educational course work and an examination can be substituted.
Home inspectors are regulated by the Texas Real Estate Licensing Board.
