Tennessee Certification enacted in 1997
(Title 62, Chapter 6, Part 3)
Tennessee law only applies to the inspection of new construction and authorizes such inspections if the inspector is:
- A licensed contractor.
- Certified by the state as a fire prevention officer or building official.
- Certified by the Southern Building Code Congress.
- Certified by the Home Inspectors of Tennessee Association.
- Certified by ASHI. The law only applies to inspectors in certain counties in Tennessee.
