CS/CS/HB 1399 - Regulation of Building Inspection Professionals
On May 02, 2007 a bill in regards to home/building inspectors was laid on the table of The Florida House of Representatives. This bill was introduced to regulate the home inspection industry in Florida to insure that consumers of home inspection services can rely on the competence of home inspectors, as determined by educational and experience requirements and testing.
This bill goes into effect on July 01, 2010 and it requires that anyone performing home inspection services become licensed to do so.
Below is an overview of the requirements:
- Has received a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Has completed a course of study of no less than hours that covers all of the
following components of a home:
- Structure
- Electrical System
- HVAC System
- Roof Covering
- plumbing System
- Interior Components
- Exterior Components
- Site Conditions That Effect The Structure
